Nakon što je već objavljen komplet zvaničnih fotografija, BMW je saopštio i tehničke detalje o novoj Seriji 2 Coupe koja nasleđuje Seriju 1 Coupe. Sem kao Coupe, Serija 2 će kasnije biti dostupna i kao Cabrio sa klasičnim platnenim krovom, a neke informacije kažu da će se pojaviti i Serija 2 GranCoupe.Kako bilo, Serija 2 Coupe je dugačka 4432 mm, široka 1774 mm, visoka 1418 mm, međuosovinsko rastojanje je 2690 mm, zapremina prtljažnika je u odnosu na Seriju 1 Coupe povećana za 20 litara i iznosi 390 litara, dok koeficijent otpora vazduhu iznosi 0,29 (kod verzije 220i Coupe). Na početku će se u ponudi naći dva benzinca i tri dizelaša, kao i opcioni M Sport paket. Benzinske verzije su BMW 220i Coupe sa 135 kW/184KS i BMW M235i sa 240 kW/326KS, a dizelaši BMW 218d Coupe sa 105 kW/143KS, BMW 220d Coupe sa 135 kW/184KS i BMW 225d Coupe sa 160 kW/218KS. Pomenuti M Sport paket između ostalog podrazumeva aero body kit, modifikovano ogibljenje (auto je niži za 10 mm), M alu točkove od 17 inča, high-gloss chrome izduvnu cev, sportska sedišta i volan...
