David starts off with having his guide Carles clarify just a little bit about why Girona has such a fascinating history — it’s geographical location at the crossroads of Spain and France has always made it a tactical point, hence highly desirable to people who desired to conquer the Iberian Peninsula. They realized that Girona was the key to gaining control of the Iberian Peninsula After the Romans arrived.

Among the main things to do from the Old Town is walk across the 14th century walls. The wall stretches 1.5 km and has been utilized as a protective measure for the city’s inhabitants. Carles ceases to describe the purpose for those holes in the walls . Then he takes David into the aspect of the wall built by the Romans in the 3rd century. They assembled a part of the wall in a triangular form to receive views of the river.

From the wall you get panoramic views of the Pyrenees Mountains and the Town . Is your Girona Cathedral, which took to finish! The reason for the lengthy construction is its architectural layout. Instead of needing columns to support the roof, then it’s only a single arch spanning the entire width of this church (23 meters). The Girona Cathedral gets the world’s biggest Gothic arch.

The Final stop on David’s day in Girona is Your Cathedral Cloister.

It is a Romanesque Cloister which includes a set of beautiful columns depicting animal motifs and figures. In addition, it has a bell tower.
