Johnson: Washington has no red line on Kosovo
US Senator Ron Johnson told Radio Free Europe that Washington has not drawn any red line which it won’t cross in the search for a solution to relations between Serbia and Kosovo.
“I would say that Germany has drawn a red line in regard to how far it will go in resolving the question of relations between Serbia and Kosovo while the US has not,” the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << said at the end of his tour of the Western Balkans.
Washington has a fairly consistent stand on possible changes to the border between Kosovo and Serbia – that a solution has to come from the two sides, he added. “A solution must come from the leaderships and people of Serbia and Kosovo. The US is only there to support and encourage a solution to the dispute. We want to give the leadership on both sides room to be flexible and creative, to find a solution for this extremelly difficult problem. I am here to offer that kind of support,” Johnson said.
“This is the moment to establish stability, peace and prosperity. Greece and Macedonia have a real chance of resolving the name dispute. I believe that both countries have courageous prime ministers who see what is in the interest of their people. I think that example can be of use to Serbia and Kosovo which are conducting serious negotiations to resolve the conflict,” the Senataor said.
