Journalists as collateral damage in Kosovo
Journalists from three media were assaulted in Kosovo during last weekend’s visit by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Belgrade daily newspaper Danas said on Tuesday.
The daily said that no one looked out for journalists from the Belgrade-based Insajder investigative portal, the Tanjug news agency and Deutsche Welle.
Sanja Kljajic, a reporter for the German station Deutsche Welle, said it seemed that journalists had been classified as collateral damage >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << from the start. “Everything seemed to be a performance in which journalists were seen to be collateral damage in advance,” she said.
“It doesn’t seem to have been anyone’s failure, on the contrary, their plan was good, it worked and if some journalist had been seriously injured it’s not as if either of the two sides would have been upset. They have a lot in common and despising media freedom is certainly one of those things,” Kljajic said.
