Pristina: No visa liberalisation, no dialogue
Kosovo’s Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and his deputy Enver Hoxhaj said on Friday Pristina should withdraw from the dialogue with Belgrade under the European Union auspices if the EU Council of Ministers failed to include the visa liberalisation for Kosovo on its December meeting agenda, the FoNet news agency reported.
The two said it was not fair >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << to pressure Pristina in the dialogue with Belgrade while Kosovo’s nationals at the same time were deprived of free movement through the Schengen zone.
“It should be good if President Hashim Thaci asks himself should he take part in those meetings and accept that every plan of our country depends on the mood of the neighbouring state,” Haradinaj said.
Earlier, German Chancellor said foreign ministers were discussing the issue, but that the all criteria had to be met before the liberalisation was approved.
Haradinaj's statement came hours after last night’s talks between Thaci and his Serbia’s counterpart Aleksandar Vucic failed to produce any results, leaving the uncertainty about any new meeting in Brussels.
Thaci accused Belgrade of ruining the dialogue with ultimatums, while Vucic said Belgrade delegations would not go to Brussels until Pristina withdrew all the illegal decisions it had taken.
However, both sides said they wanted the dialogue to continue, but it appeared that everyone had their conditions which the others could hardly accept.
Before Thursday’s encounter, Thaci and Vucic met in Brussels in July, while in September they separately talk to Federica Mogherini, the European Union High Representative and the mediator in the dialogue.
The two could meet again in Paris, on Sunday, November 11, during the ceremony marking the end of World War I.
Their host will be the French President Emmanuel Macron, who might try to help Belgarde and Pristina to overcome the vast gap between them.
