Sub Focus is an alias of Nick Douwma, a British drum'n'bass producer/DJ affiliated with the Ram Records collective.
Originally from London, Douwma is a self-taught producer who began producing music on his PC at the age of 13 and got the know-how from software manuals. Sub Focus was discovered when a friend passed his demo CD onto Ram Records label boss, Andy C. He was then signed to Ram Records sister label Frequency Recordings with his first release 'Down The Drain' in 2003. His first 12" release on Ram Records was 'X-Ray' which went on to be one of the biggest drum & bass tunes of 2005. Following this, he was asked to remix The Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up' for their greatest hits package 'Their Law: The Singles Collection 1990-2005'.
Following the release of his critically acclaimed self titled debut LP, Sub Focus takes his D&B show LIVE for the first time, recreating LIVE the varied beats from his album, complete with stunning light show. Sub Focus had the cover of his debut album transformed into a light installation. This 3 meter wide 'Hexmod LED DMX controlled' light show will be featured at SHARE by Night.
