Serbian FM warns against travel to occupied Cyprus
Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic on Thursday warned Serbians to avoid travel agencies offering holidays in the occupied part of Cyprus.
Serbian tourists “should not enter into any kind of arrangement with agencies promising holidays in the occupied part of Cyprus,” Dacic said after a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulidis, adding that “the dignity and territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country should be respected”.
Dacic told reporters >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << that Cyprus is firm in its stand that it does not recognize Kosovo’s independence. “The position of Cyprus is very firm. It was never in doubt and I am very grateful to our brothers for consistently sticking to that principle and voting against Kosovo’s membership in all international organizations,” he said.
According to Dacic, no unilateral act can be allowed to violate the territorial integrity of a UN member state.
Christodoulidis said that Cyprus considers Kosovo’s declaration of independence to be illegal until a compromise solution is found. He added that he informed Dacic about the process of resolving the violent division of Cyprus.
