IMF to Serbia’s Govt: Cancel pensions reduction, daily
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission led by James Roaf, the head of the Fund’s Mission for Serbia, advised Serbia’s Government on Friday to abolish a law on a temporary reduction of pensions after four years of its implementation.
The Mission is in Belgrade to discuss a new arrangement with Serbia.
Politika daily wrote on Friday that the IMF suggested to Serbia’s side to find a methodical answer to pensions, since the public finances were steady >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << for the last three years.
The IMF has repeatedly warned Belgrade that the temporary reduction in pensions must not be a permanent solution, but so far there has not been any government reaction.
Serbia’s Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has recently said that there will be an increase in both pensions and public sector’s salaries providing that the GDP continued to grow.
She did not mention the possible abolishment of the law on temporary reduction in pensions.
