President Vucic: Whenever needed, Russia is there for Serbia
The talks with President Vladimir Putin of Russia were always sincere, open, covering all issues, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday, a day after his visit to Moscow.
Speaking to the state RTS television, Vucic said that Russia and Serbia cemented the friendship and cooperation in all area of social life and that the last discussion included the key questions.
He said he spent “a lot, a lot of time” talking to Putin about Kosovo.

“We have analysed all existing United Nations’ documents, discussed the attitudes of all players at the world’s political scene, mostly regarding that issue,” Vucic said.
Also, he added, the agenda covered the cooperation in economy, energy sector and military-technical partnership.
Vucic confirmed he had invited Putin to visit Serbia and said that “we expect him in October or November.”
Serbia’s President added that “we succeeded in proving Serbia as a reliable and fair partner and that that does not last for a day.”
Referring to the international and local remarks that he was pushing Serbia towards the European Union while at the same time nourishing close relation with Russia which is often at odds with the block and under its economic sanctions because of Moscow’s policy in Ukraine, Vucic said that “everyone here, in Europe and in the world knows that Serbia is on the European path.”
“But,” he added, “when Serbia says it won’t impose sanctions on Russia, it won’t do that. When Serbia says it will remain militarily neutral and won’t join NATO or any other military alliance, Serbia will honour that.”
“A consistency is Serbia’s strong side,” Vucic said.
He added Serbia had always had Russia’s support, even when “Putin was busy with domestic issues like the elections, the fire that killed children, he called within the 24 hours and we could talk about everything.”
“Whenever it’s necessary Putin is there for Serbia and I am very, very grateful for that,” Vucic said.
