EU increases pre-accession aid for Western Balkans
The European Commission has increased pre-accession aid by 20 percent in the draft 2021-2027 budget, the European Union ambassador in Serbia said on Friday.
EU Delegation chief Sem Fabrizi said in a written statement that the draft budget includes 14.5 billion Euro in pre-accession aid. “That means there will be more money for Serbia and the entire Western Balkans region to prepare for accession to the EU,” >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << he wrote.
The draft budget has the necessary flexibility and can adapt to new members once candidate countries are ready to become Union members, he said.
“We said that in the Strategy for the Western Balkans and we have already faced that when Croatia became a member of the EU in 2013 when the budget period was up to 2014,” Fabrizi said in the statement adding that the draft budget confirms the European Commission’s commitment to Serbia and the Western Balkans.
