Serbia’s PM to join ruling President Vucic’s party

Ana Brnabic, Serbia’s Prime Minister, who the Parliament elected to the post as an independent candidate, said on Thursday she thought about joining the ruling President Aleksandar Vucic’s Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), saying it had great and high-quality people, the Beta news agency reported.

Speaking to the Belgrade Nedeljnik weekly, Brnabic said she didn’t feel a lack of support from the SNS, and that she had it where it was the most important – in the >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Parliament.

“I have to say I am thinking of joining” the SNS, she said.

“I’m not a member and can’t talk about Vucic’s withdrawal from the party’s helm. As his ally I can only say that I wouldn’t like him to that because he is that cohesive factor who wins over different ideas in the party and Serbia needs unity,” Brnabic added.

Some media reports suggested that Vucic was considering leaving the post of the party’s head. They have not been officially either denied or confirmed, but some SNS high-ranking officials commented on them, saying that though Vucic thought differently, they would like him to stay.

Brnabic said that "the party will remain as strong as it is whatever happens.”

Asked who she saw as “great and high-quality people” within the SNS, she mentioned the Mayor of Serbia’s northern city of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic because he “has a vision and knows what he is doing.”
