BH Croat leader: We should recognise Kosovo, Serbs against
Newly elected Croat member to the Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency said he considered Kosovo as an independent state, but that Belgrade and Pristina should define their mutual relations, the Beta news agency reported.
In an interview with the Deutsche Welle, Zeljko Komsic said his position was clear and that it would be smart for Bosnia to recognise Kosovo’s >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << independence.
“But having Milorad Dodik (the newly elected Serb member) on the Presidency, I doubt that we will reach such decision.”
Asked about an eventual border change in the Balkans, Komsic said his country should insist that its borders remain intact, but that he “could not speak on behalf Serbia and Kosovo.”
Komsic's election was not welcomed in Croatia where the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) was disappointed by the defeat of its sister party in Bosnia candidate Dragan Covic, accusing Komsic of winning on Bosniaks' votes despite running for a Croat member to the Presidency.
The three members must come from the three constitutive nations: Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs.
“Being a Bosnian is equally mine as being a Croat,” Komsic told N1 Sarajevo.
He said he was ready to have good relations with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, Croatia’s head of state Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic.
“The only thing I ask for is that Bosnia’s borders are defined and accepted," Komsic said, adding he wouldn’t mind a normal diplomatic and nice human behaviour toward Bosnia.
