Serbia's PM to ring the closing bell at NYSE
Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabic will be honoured to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Monday, the Prime Minister’s cabinet said, announcing that Brnabic will also meet NYSE President Stacey Cunningham, the first female NYSE President.
The start and the end of the stock exchange work have been marked every day in the Big Apple since the end of the 19th century, and the bell ringing >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << ceremony was introduced in 1903.
The tradition of inviting of senior officials to ring the bell was introduced at the NYSE in 1995, hosting numerous prominent figures and special guests ever since. Among the guest were Serbia’s tennis player Novak Djokovic, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, NASA management and partners, fashion designer Ralph Lauren, and many others.
The stock exchange in the capital of the world hosted a big number of the world leaders and politicians including South African leader Nelson Mandela, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, former German diplomat Gerhard Schroeder, Irish politician Leo Varadkar, and so on.
