EU Commissioner Hahn speaks with Kosovo, Serbia presidents
The Presidents of Serbia and Kosovo agreed that a de-escalation of the situation is needed, European Commissioner Johannes Hahn tweeted on Friday following phone conversations with Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci.
“We agreed on the urgent need for calm and de-escalation, in the interest of the whole region. I offered help to work on rapid, practical solutions for the various trade issues at hand,” Hahn tweeted.

The Serbian president responded with a tweet saying that he agreed in the conversation with Hahn that calm, peace and stability have to be maintained.
The Kosovo government decided earlier this week to raise tariffs on goods from Serbia to 100 percent. Tensions were raised further by an operation by the Kosovo police special unit ROSU which arrested three men in northern Kosovo under a warrant issued by the Special Prosecutor investigating the murder of Serb leader Oliver Ivanovic.
