EU: Bosnian authorities to overcome divisive rhetoric

The EU remains committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina's European perspective, the EU Foreign Affairs High Representative Federica Mogherini’s office told N1 when asked about the recent media reports on potential links between the Kosovo issue and Bosnia.

In the past couple of weeks, many regional media speculated on a possible solution >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << to the Kosovo issue apparently close to the resolution.

Reacting to such news, many analysts and politicians, mostly from the Serb-dominated, semi-autonomous, Republika Srpska (RS) entity, said that opened the doors to the secession of the RS and its accession to Serbia.

N1 asked Federica Mogherini to comment on those reports, and a statement from her office said the "the Council encouraged Bosnia and Herzegovina to further actively engage in regional cooperation and building of neighbourly relations."

"The EU position is very clear and was last stated in June when the Council reiterated its unequivocal commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU perspective as a single, united and sovereign country and encouraged all authorities and political forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina to overcome divisive rhetoric rooted in the past, to end the glorification of convicted war criminals as well as to actively promote reconciliation, including through education," the statement added.
