NS members say members of SNS had beaten them

Serbia’s People’s Party (NS) has on Sunday accused members of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) of beating up two NS City Council members in the southern town of Vranje.

NS said that it’s members Djordje Ristic and Dragan Pavlovic were attacked after Ristic called the handover of a local cultural facility to the SNS scandalous >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << and said that it represents “usurpation of city facilities for party purposes.”

“Pavlovic and I were heading toward the NS office and when we were just in front of it we heard vulgarities targeting us and a minute later four members of the SNS who we knew attacked us,” Ristic said, according to a NS press statement.

“One of the SNS members held me while the other three were beating Council member Pavlovic and then myself,” he said.

The party called upon authorities to prosecute the alleged perpetrators.

According to unofficial information published by ‘Juzne vesti’, the incident was caught on security cameras of the National University in Vranje and the recordings will be reviewed by police.

The Vranje police station has not yet commented on the allegations.
