Serbia will act if RS is in danger, FM says
The foreign minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic said that Belgrade would not “sit idly if someone tries to destroy Republika Srpska (RS),” the Serb-dominated entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Beta news agency reported on Tuesday.
Speaking at an opening ceremony of a part of the “January 9” motorway in RS, Dacic said his country, being a Dayton Agreement guarantor, was not interfering with the forthcoming elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 1995 Dayton >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Agreement ended the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia. The signatories were the late presidents of Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia, Franjo Tudjman, Slobodan Milosevic and Alija Izetbegovic respectively.
“Serbia is not involved in who will vote for whom process, but what we are involved in is the survival of the RS and the Serb people's rights on this territory,” Dacic said.
“Do not touch the Serb people's rights and freedom,” Dacic said, adding that he was not good in talking about the motorways, “but that all roads lead to Belgrade.”
He added that the Serbs had never been a destabilising force and that they would not be that in the future either, “but keep hands off the Serb people's freedom.”
Dacic said he was uncomfortable when coming to the RS as Foreign Minister, “because these are internal matters within the Serb people.”
He added that the Serbs have “the main project to preserve what they gained in blood during the war.”
