NATO is “concerned” about Macedonia and Albania…

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said during today's speech at the European Parliament that the Alliance is concerned about the situation in Macedonia and that they will closely monitor developments in Albania.

- We are concerned about the situation in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Democratic processes must be respected, and majority should have the right to decide who will form the government - said Stoltenberg.

He particularly pointed to the political turmoil in Albania.

- We are carefully monitoring developments in Albania. We would like to see a solution to the political problems caused by the boycott of parliament - said General Secretary, adding that Albania is an "important ally" of NATO.

Stoltenberg stressed the importance of fighting terrorism on the stability of the entire region of the Western Balkans.

He stressed the "vital role of NATO" in the formation of a multiethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina Army, the importance of KFOR presence in Kosovo and the importance of cooperation with NATO partners in the region.
