NATO Military Committee in Macedonia
The NATO Military Commitee is due to visit Macedonia for the first time this week, the Beta news agency reported on Monday.
Military representatives of the 29 Alliance member states are coming to Skoplje at the invitation of Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska. The delegation is headed by Lieutenant General Steven Shepro, deputy chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
Army of Macedonia (ARM) spokesman Colonel Zoran Ilov said this is a purely military closed >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << event which will not include meetings with the Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov.
The delegation will meet with the chief of staff of the ARM and will be informed of preparations to join NATO and attend a demonstration of the capacities and operational capabilities of the Macedonian military.
Macedonia launched its NATO accession process during a visit to Alliance headquarters on October 18 when the negotiations were opened. The former Yugoslav republic was invited to join the Alliance at a July 12 summit after the prime ministers of Macedonia and Greece reached an agreement to resolve the dispute over the name of the country.
