Serbian official says campaign against solution underway
A Serbian government official called for unity over Kosovo on Friday, claiming that a campaign was being waged to prevent a solution to the issue.
Office for Kosovo chief Marko Djuric told the Serbian state TV that “a hysterical campaign is being waged to prevent any kind of solution”, adding that the campaign is being waged by ruling circles in Pristina, part of the international community and some people >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << in Serbia.
He said a “critical mass of people opposed to a solution” is being formed which he feels runs counter to Serbia’s interest.
Djuric said that the independence of Kosovo is set in stone for many western countries and accused opposition leaders of sharing that view. “Unfortunately there are a pile of people in Serbia – (Sasa) Jankovic, (Vuk) Jeremic, (Rada) Trajkovic – to mention just a few who hold identical views,” he said.
He added that some among the Serbian clergy “are hiding behind their frocks and dabbling in politics” unlike a majority of the clergy who view the Kosovo issue rationally and reasonably.
