Senator says US won’t impose solution for Kosovo
US Senator Ron Johnson said on Monday that Washington does not want to impose a solution for the Kosovo issue but wants to support Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
Johnson told a joint new conference after his meeting with Vucic that the Serbian president should be given more space to reach a flexible solution with Pristina.
The senator said that everyone in Washington, including President >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Donald Trump and State Secretary Mike Pompeo, understand the importance of a solution to the Kosovo problem.
“You have a brave leader who wants the best for the Serbian people. He will show courage to solve this problem. I will do my best to provide support for you, for the people in Serbia and in Kosovo fighting for peace and stability,” he said.
Vucic thanked Johnson for always wanting to hear the Serbian side, adding that Belgrade and Washington do not have the same views on all issues but that they talk and want to find common denominators on all important issues, overcome them and improve relations.
He expressed the hope that President Trump would visit Serbia, adding that the US president always advocate peace and stability in the Balkans and helped create an environment which would lead to a compromise solution between Serbs and Albanians.
He said an agreement with Pristina will be very hard to achieve but added that it’s important that the great powers support the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
