Serbian FM Dacic satisfied with talks in Washington
Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic expressed satisfaction with his talks with administration officials in Washington, the Voice of America reported on Friday.
Dacic met with Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell, who he said showed understanding for Serbia’s interests, and White House National Security Advisor John Bolton who was prepared to hear different solutions for Kosovo.

The Foreign Minister said the biggest change brought in by the Trump administration is the fact that “they are willing to listen to Serbia’s arguments”. “Two years ago, they would say in talks: that issue has been resolved. Now they say: a compromise should be found. That is a huge difference,” Dacic told the VOA.
“Bolton said that US foreign policy was on autopilot in the period before (US President Donald) Trump. Now for the first time they are prepared to hear creative solutions to possible problems including Kosovo. That is very important for us and it’s very important to have agreement on it in Washington,” Dacic said.
Dacic was in Washington as part of Serbian government delegation headed by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic to mark the 100th anniversary of a message by then US President Woodrow Wilson about the suffering of the Serbian nation in World War I and the raising of the Serbian flag over the White House. The Foreign Minister said the visit is a good basis to “reset relations” and find common interests.
Dacic said he also met President Trump’s son in law, White House advisor Jared Kushner, Dacic quoted him as saying that “Serbs are fierce and good guys”.
