Serbia not looking for support, FM says
Serbia wants respect for international law, not support from other countries, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Monday adding that “politicians in Pristina are puppets handled by someone on the outside”.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Serbian government ministers are banned from entering Kosovo because that is something we can expect from the people who imposed 100 percent customs duties,” he >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << told reporters after the opening ceremony of a course for civilian staff in multi-national operations at the Army of Serbia (VS) Centre for Peace Operations.
Dacic said that he does not want to hear about how Serbia challenged Kosovo with its diplomatic activities which resulted in the raising of tariffs on products from Serbia.
“This is not about someone doing something to Serbia but about them wanting to jeopardise regional peace and stability. We will defend our national and state interests. Russia can help, of course, because Russia and China are guarantees that the UN will not revise Security Council resolution 1244 but we want a common approach by the Security Council,” the foreign minister said.
According to Dacic, the introduction of higher tariffs runs counter to agreements reached in Brussels. He said this is an issue for the international community and European Union, recalling that Kosovo Trade Minister Endrit Shala and Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama posted a picture with the inscription 100% on their Facebook pages.
“Some Western countries have given birth to a political monster in Pristina. It’s time to tether it. Forget the stories about how they won’t listen to us – who will they listen to? They are talking about tearing down the border between Albania and Kosovo, abolishing customs, the border police… If Europe really does not see what this is about and the extent of this hypocrisy, I don’t know if there is any sense in our participation in gatherings on regional cooperation,” Dacic said.
