Public broadcasters crucial, EU Delegation chief says
Freedom of expression is the basis of democracy and pluralism and the role of public broadcasters is crucial at times when the media scene changes quickly, European Union Delegation chief Sem Fabrizi told a regional investigative journalism workshop at the Serbian state TV (RTS) on Friday.
Fabrizi said that an EU-funded project will be implemented at regional level to improve the capacities of public broadcasters in investigative journalism. The EU will invest 1.5 >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << million Euros in that two-year project to contribute to reforms and the professional development of public broadcasters in the Western Balkans.
He said that the RTS and Radio TV Vojvodina (RTV) had received 5.4 million Euros from the EU for a number of projects since 2000.
Public broadcasters are the mainstay for all public media and it’s important for them to have good programmes, Fabrizi told the 14 journalists from seven public broadcasters participating in the workshop.
