Serbia has deficit in March, surplus in first quarter
Serbia had a 12.1 billion Dinar (around 100 million Euro) deficit in its state budget in March but ended the first quarter of the year with a surplus of 6.5 billion Dinars (around 54 million Euro), the Finance Ministry said on Monday.
A press release said income into the budget in the first quarter of 2018 stood at 266.7 billion Dinars (around 2.3 billion Euro) while expenses totaled 260.3 billion Dinars (around 2.2 billion Euro).
In March alone, 89.6 billion Dinars >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << (around 757 million Euro) were paid into the budget, including 75.9 billion Dinars (around 641 million Euro) in taxes. Most of the tax income was VAT totaling 38 billion Dinars (around 321 million Euro) and duties totaling 20.7 billion Dinars (around 177 million Euro).
Non-tax income paid into the budget in March stood at 13.1 billion Dinars (around 110 million Euro), including 2.9 billion Dinars (around 25 million Euro) from the issue of bonds.
Donations totaled 600 million Dinars (around 5 million Euro). Expenses stood at 101.7 billion Dinars (around 860 million Euro) in March because of high interest payments in line with plans to repay the public debt. Employee expenses stood at 21.2 billion Dinars (around 180 million Euro) and 14 billion Dinars (around 118 million Euro) was transferred to the state pension fund (PIO), health care fund (RFZO), nationaal employment service (NSZ) and military social security fund (SOVO Fund).
The Finance Ministry said that capital and procurement expenses and subsidies were significantly higher in March than in the previous two months “which was expected”.
