Tadic doubtful about merging of opposition in one bloc

The leader of the Social Democratic Party Boris Tadic expressed doubts about the merging of Serbia's opposition in the Alliance for Serbia, assessing that the opposition would stand a better chance if it formed two blocs - a pro-European and another one of the parties and the movements advocating an anti-European and traditionalist concept.

Tadic also said he would discuss his party's approach towards the Alliance for Serbia at the table and not through media.

“I >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << think it would be much better if two clearly differentiated blocs reached an agreement on crucial matters such as electoral and media conditions instead of mixing the apples and oranges. Who's going to vote for the apples and oranges,” Tadic told Serbia's daily newspaper Blic.

He further stated that all political parties gathered around the strategic goal – the European Union membership. In his opinion, even if the Alliance for Serbia won “the current regime of (Serbia's President) Aleksandar Vucic”, the upcoming period would be marked by political conflicts and the loss of trust among citizens.

The idea of formation of the Alliance for Serbia was launched by opposition leader Dragan Djilas after the defeat in Serbia's local election in March this year.
