Serbians reporting discrimination more frequently

Serbians are increasingly likely to report cases of discrimination, the Serbian Equality Commissioner Brankica Jankovic told N1 on Monday.

According to a recent poll, people in Serbia are aware of discrimination, she said. “The best part is that they are more and more ready to report it and that is reflected in the number of complaints that this institution (the Commissioner’s office) receives. We have 20 percent more complaints compared to last year,” the commissioner said.

She said that every case that is resolved sends a clear message that discrimination is not allowed and called the citizens of Serbia to report discrimination. “Things can be changed in society,” Jankovic said.
