Poll shows LGBT work place discrimination in Serbia
More than a third of LGBT community members in Serbia have suffered discrimination at work over the past five years, Belgrade daily newspaper Danas reported on Monday.
A total of 38 percent of the people polled by the IDEAS social research centre said they suffered some form of discrimination in the workplace. The poll was completed in cooperation with GLIC (Gay Lesbian Info Centre) and XY Spectrum.
A total of 46 percent of the polled said they suffered verbal violence, >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << 19 percent were threatened with dismissal from their job, 18 percent were threatened with physical violence, 9 percent suffered physical violence and 15 percent suffered sexual harrasment.
Almost all the polled (93 percent) said that Serbia does not have good mechanisms to protect them from discrimination at work and 77 percent said they hide their sexual orientation from co-workers.
