Belgrade: We won’t allow any massive pogrom of Kosovo Serbs
The head of Serbia's Parliament Kosovo Committee said on Friday the Pristina's arrest of four Serbs aggravated the situation and additionally raised tensions, but also announced new violent Albanian acts in northern Kosovo, the Beta news agency reported.
Milovan Drecun told the state RTS television that “it seems to be a part of a wider strategy designed by (Kosovo’s Prime Minister) Ramush Haradinaj to break off any talks with Belgrade about a possibility >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << of a final agreement on the Kosovo status.”
According to Drecun, today’s ROSA special police unit intervention aimed to “force Belgrade to recognise Kosovo as some state by using brutal pressure on the survival and safety of the Serb people.”
“All of that serves to divert the attention of the Albanians from a difficult economic and social situation, failures in diplomacy, and a volatile political situation since the ruling coalition doesn’t have a majority without the Serb deputies’ support,” Drecun said.
He added that there was no milk, bread and medicines in Kosovo and that such situation forced the Serbs to think whether they could stay there.
Drecun suggested Belgrade should send “a preventive message to Albanians that there is a line Serbia won’t allow to be crossed, and that is a threat to the Serb people’s survival. We won’t allow any massive pogrom.”
