West to Belgrade: Stop annoying Pristina with diplomacy
The Western countries have demanded from Serbia to stop its diplomatic efforts in talking the states that have recognised Kosovo independence to reconsider the decision, Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in Monday, the Beta news agency reported.
Dacic told the Vecernje Novosti daily that the Albanian side “complain about me to the >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Western leaders and they demand we stop with that because it irritates the Albanians, while with their lobbying for new recognitions there are no problems.”
Dacic added that the countries which had already withdrawn the recognition until a final solution in the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue, was not only a significant result in disputing Kosovo’s independence but also in realising that the problem could be solved exclusively in dialogue and that it wasn’t a done deal.
“The forthcoming voting for the Interpol membership will show that it was not over and that Pristina’s list of the countries which recognised Kosovo independence is fake. I can guarantee you they won’t join Interpol,” Dacic said.
The daily has said that after nine administrations reportedly have withdrawn the decisions, 102 countries currently recognise Kosovo as an independent state and that Belgrade aims to reduce that number to under one hundred by the end of the year. Pristina has denied some of the reports.
So far, according to Dacic, Surinam, São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea Bissau, Burundi, Papua New Guinea, Liberia, Lesotho, Dominica, and Grenada have withdrawn the decision to recognise Kosovo in the last 12 months, with some saying they would wait until Belgrade and Pristina reached an agreement.
