More flexibility over Kosovo, Serbian FM Dacic says
The great powers are showing more flexibility over the Kosovo issue but are continuing to call for its membership in international organizations, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said after a UN Security Council session on the situation in Kosovo.
“Some great powers are calling all the sides in the (Belgrade-Pristina) dialogue to show flexibility which was not the case earlier when the only expectation >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << was for Serbia to recognize Kosovo,” Dacic told the Serbian state TV (RTS).
The foreign minister said that there are continuing calls to recognize Kosovo and vote to grant it membership in Interpol, adding that Belgrade is faced with “strong lobbying by Western countries”. Dacic said Interpol membership for Kosovo is a status issue. “Pristina does not want to join Interpol to fight crime but to show that it is an independent state, equal to Serbia,” he added.
