Vucic: We're ready for talks if Pristina ends import tariffs
The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has said on Wednesday Belgrade is prepared to continue the dialogue with Pristina as soon as Kosovo’s Government annuls the import taxes it has introduced on goods from central Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Beta news agency reported.
Speaking in the northern town of Kula during the opening of the fifth Italian Calzedonia factory in Serbia, he promised that “when >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << they do that, we are ready to continue (the talks) immediately.”
Vucic added that after Kosovo’s failure to join Interpol “an effort is ahead of us,” adding he didn’t know if Pristina would now accept to annul the tariffs or would it opt for further confrontation.
“Every dialogue must have rules, and the sides must respect each other. We’re waiting for Pristina to do its part, to put itself at the civilised side and revoke the tariffs,” Vucic said.
Earlier, the European Union said there still was no date set for the continuation of the Belgrade - Pristina dialogue on normalisation of relations.
Commenting on the voting at the Interpol General Assembly meeting in Dubai where Montenegro and Macedonia were in favour of Kosovo’s membership, Vucic said both Podgorica and Skopje showed who was more important to them.
“We understood that message very well. We want good relations, but we comprehend their priorities. We will behave responsibly and seriously, respecting them, but knowing well what significance we have for them and we’ll act accordingly in the future,” Vucic said.
