Serbia’s PM: UNMIK’s full presence of crucial importance
Full presence of the UN Kosovo Mission (UNMIK) and without any change in its mandate is of crucial importance for the preservation of stability in Kosovo, Ana Brnabic, Serbia’s Prime Minister has said in New York, where she heads Belgarde delegation at the UN General Assembly meeting, the Beta news agency reported on Wednesday.
Taking part in a meeting “Action for Peace” organised by the UN Secretary-General >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Antonio Guterres, Brnabic said that UNMIK worked in a very complex political and security environment and that because of that it was necessary for the Mission to continue its job in line with the 1999 UN Resolution 1244 on Kosovo.
“Peace operations are one of the key instruments for the UN to strengthen its role in preserving international peace and security,” she said adding that “more than 300 women and men from Serbia participate in the UN peace operations.”
“We are proud to be the regional leader and the ninth European country by the number of participants in peace operations,” Brnabic added.
