President: Belgrade wants proper, not provisional borders
Belgrade wants proper borders (with Kosovo), not any provisory boundaries with one thing on a paper and the other on the ground, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic told the Vecernje Novosti daily on Friday.
He said there was nothing new in his stand and that he had been advocating a separation for years.
Vucic said he did not want to reveal some issues he negotiated with the Albanians because he did want >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << to make Serbia’s arguments public, unlike Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci, some Western officials, but also those at home who “know everything although have never taken part in the talks.”
His secretary – general Nikola Selakovic said that there was 95 percent chance that there would not be any solution.
He told the state RTS television that Vucic was searching for a solution which would prevent a war in the future.
“The chances that a solution won’t be found are 95 percent, but because of the five percent that it could happen, Vucic is ready to find it,” Selakovic said.
“The world is divided in their view of our southern province (of Kosovo).” he added.
He further said that the West saw the Kosovo problem as solved within the existing borders and that a division could destabilise the region, while the problem (for them) was that “Vucic won’t accept that Kosovo is independent with the borders imposed on us.”
