Belgrade: Separation reflects wish for compromise
The suggestion of separation (between Serbia and Kosovo) is a reflection of a strive for finding a compromise for Kosovo and does not mean weakness, Serbia’s diplomacy chief said on Friday, describing those opposing it as hypocrites.
Speaking at a joint media conference with Maria Zaharova, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Ivica Dacic said he had always been talking about separation as a solution >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << for Kosovo, and blasted those from the international community who opposed the idea.
“You have opened the Pandora box (with recognising Kosovo’s independence), it’s over, end… Shame on you, hypocrites… You suddenly remember there can’t be the separation along the ethnic lines,” Dacic said.
He also commented on speculation about Pristina's ideas on the secession of the three municipalities from the south of Serbia, mostly populated by the ethnic Albanians, saying “Is that a compromise? Don’t play the fool.”
Dacic added that Russia would agree to everything that was acceptable to Serbia and that Belgrade “does nothing behind Moscow’s back.”
