NBS official: Regional cooperation improves competitiveness
Cooperation in the region is extremely important to raising its level of competitiveness, a National Bank of Serbia (NBS) official told N1 on Thursday.
Nebojsa Savic, Chairman of the NBS Governor’s Council, said the Western Balkans is the least developed part of Europe but that it has potential resources which have not been made use of.

The NBS official said routine jobs are being phased out and new jobs are being opened requiring new knowledge, forcing the education system to keep in step with growth and development. “We are not workaholics but life has forced us to be more creative,” Savic said. According to him, the focus of development has to be on the IT sector and higher quality products which means that Serbia needs clusters to organize everyone interested in developing a certain product.
Savic warned that the political climate also affects the development of a regional economy, adding that it’s important to realize that the economy has to win. “The essence of all political campaigns is a growth of the GDP with economists lending support and politicians not creating obstacles,” he said.
