US Kosovo envoy: We won’t accept any solution
The outgoing US ambassador to Pristina Greg Delawie said on Monday Washington would not welcome any solution to Kosovo issue eventually reached by the two sides, the Beta news agency reported.
In an interview with the Pristina Koha Ditore daily, Delawie said that because the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue was missing the democratic legitimacy, any solution >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << reached in Brussels could not be acceptable.
“I think it is up to the Kosovo parliament to secure the democratic legitimacy. Unfortunately, it is not capable of winning 61 yes votes for every issue in the dialogue,” the ambassador said.
He added that a solution should be sustainable and accepted by citizens on both sides and able to guarantee the regional stability.
“We never said that we would accept any solution… We said that we would look into all offered suggestions and express our concerns if there would be any,” Delawie said.
However, his colleague, the US ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott, said on Sunday that it was not up to the US to define what would be in agreement, adding that the negotiating parties should reach a “permanent solution that cannot be imposed from outside.”
