Antonio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General has told Serbia’s Prime Minister Ana Brnabic in New York that as far as the UN is concerned Kosovo is not a state, Serbia’s Government’s statement has said on Friday.

Kosovo declared independence from Belgrade in 2008, and has been recognised by many countries since, but does not have a seat at the UN.

The two met at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly 73rd session.

Brnabic reiterated that Belgrade wanted the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) to remain in the same number and with the same mandate, what Guterres agreed with.
