Slovakia confirms will never recognise Kosovo independence
The Speaker of the Parliament of a central European country of Slovakia said on Thursday his country stood firm in its decision not to recognise the independence of Kosovo.
Slovakia is one out of five European Union member states that have refused to recognise the Pristina move from 2008.
Andrej Danko also said Bratislava could help Belgrade on its way to the EU full membership.
“We can offer you >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << a lot of information about mistakes we made on that road.,” he said while meeting his Serbia’s counterpart Maja Gojkovic in Belgrade.
“First of all, my advice will be that Serbia should protect its natural resources, minerals and waters… And not to give up its key companies,” Danko said, adding the road to the EU was not an easy one, but was the only one for the regional countries.
Gojkovic said Belgrade appreciated Bratislava’s respect of Serbia’s territorial integrity by deciding not to recognise Kosovo as a state.
She added the two countries had had excellent relations and honest friendship.
Slovakia joined the EU in 2004, and the Eurozone in 2009. The country is also a member of NATO.
