Serbia’s gov. promises many investments to Kosovo Serbs
Serbia’s Government plans to meet with Kosovo Serbs' representatives to present its investment plan for the areas where they make a majority, the Office for Kosovo said on Wednesday, the Beta news agency reported.
The agenda for the joint session, to be held in a month, includes the harmonisation of subsidy measures for potential investors in those parts >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << of Kosovo.
The head of the Office Marko Djuric said that “Serbia plans many investments.”
The announcement came days after Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic visited northern Kosovo and his speech that included promises for the economic aid from Belgrade.
It also coincides with a halt in the EU facilitated Belgrade – Pristina political dialogue on normalisation of relations and different speculation about a final solution, including a demarcation between Kosovo and Serbia.
Belgrade controls the majority of over 70,000 Serbs living in four northern municipalities, while the remaining 25,000 live in other parts of Kosovo where the ethnic Albanians form an overwhelming majority.
Some speculations say that Belgrade would accept that northern Kosovo joins Serbia in return for recognising Pristina’s independence and agree that the country becomes a UN member.
However, Pristina's leaders vehemently reject any idea about the division of Kosovo. Instead, some, like President Hashim Thaci, advocate border correction that would include the annexation of Serbia’s southern region mostly populated by ethnic Albanians.
Brussels said it was not sure when the dialogue, led by Vucic and Thaci and put on hold earlier this month, would continue.
