Kosovo special prosecutor visits Pristina
Special Prosecutor for war crimes Jack Smith on Tuesday started his first visit to Kosovo which will include meetings with both top local officials and representatives of international missions.
"During the visit, among others he will meet with heads of international organizations, representatives of European Union member states, Kosovo Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri, and senior officials of the Ministry of Justice," a press release from the Kosovo Specialist Chambers >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office.
The Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office are part of the Judiciary of Kosovo based in the Hague and tasked with investigating and prosecuting crimes against humanity, war crimes, human organ trafficking and other serious violations of international law listed in a 2011 Council of Europe report. Smith, a US juror, was appointed special prosecutor by EULEX Chief Alexandra Papadopoulou. He started his job on September 11th taking over from the first prosecutor David Schwendiman.
