Vucic says some want to see Serbia at war
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that Belgrade would continue negotiating with Pristina even though some in the region want to see Serbia at war.
Vucic said that many in the region do not want peace and stability but prefer to see the political conflict between Serbs and Albanians continue. “They don’t want the Serbs and Albanians to reach an agreement ever and see everyone else make progress but not Serbs and Albanians. “The important thing is that, even if we fail to reach an agreement which is probably, someone will come after us and achieve something because without long-term peace building we won’t be in a situation to continue these successful economic results,” Vucic told reporters during a tour of the clinical centre in Zemun.
He warned against siding with “those who like easy solutions which bring headaches”. “That’s like curing cancer with aspirin,” Vucic said. Vucic said that Prime Minister Ana Brnabic will most probably go to New York to attend a session of the UN General Assembly. “I just want to spend more time in the country, I can’t be abroad all the time,” he said. Vucic said his coming visit to China will be the 5th time he meets with President Xi Jiping, adding that 10 important arrangement would be signed in Beijing. He said he would invite the Chinese president to visit Serbia.
Asked about Serbia’s investments in Kosovo, the president said it’s impossible to follow the money there because Serbia does not have effective control in Kosovo. “The money invested in Kosovo cannot be fully transparent because of the dual system in place,” he added.
