Serbia's raspberry growers block road
Raspberry growers of the Prijepolje and Uzice regions in Serbia blocked the state road to Montenegro on Saturday, dissatisfied with the raspberry redemption price. The road blockade followed after they held a peaceful protest in Prijepolje.
About 2,000 raspberry growers gathered on the Prijepolje-Nova Varos state road, in Vladicanski Dvor, but soon afterwards the police intervened and prevented them from further moving.
According to news agencies, they demand that the >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << redemption price is set to RSD 180-200 (approx 1.60 EUR) and also demand to hold the talks with representatives of the Government of Serbia.
Organizers of the protest said they would continue protesting until their demands are met. The protesters also request the resignation of Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic and that Serbian President and Prime Minister get involved in solving this problem.
