National Museum not last investment by Serbian government

The investments in the National Museum are not the last of investments in culture by the Serbian government, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said at the opening of the museum late on Thursday night.

She said that Serbia will become the centre of the arts world once again and added that Serbia has to show itself and the world that it is an authentically creative nation of thinkers. “We should all be proud that culture is back in our focus,” she said.

Brnabic recalled her >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << promise when she took office that her government would make sure that the National Museum and Museum of Modern Art are re-opened after being closed for years. “The two most important institutions of culture in Serbia were closed and neglected and were a symbol of the time of politicians who shut down museums and neglected culture. That is behind us now,” the Prime Minister said.

The opening was attended by several cabinet ministers, Belgrade city officials, representatives of churches and religious communities and members of the diplomatic corps.
