Defence Minister says Serbia has to be prepared
Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin told the state TV (RTS) on Thursday that Serbia has to be prepared for possible attacks.
“A strong military and a strong country are guarantees of peace,” Vulin said in response to questions about the possible restoration of mandatory military service.
President Aleksandar Vucic said earlier this week that the authorities are considering the possibility of reinstating conscription with a tour of duty of three or six months.

Vulin refused to speculate on a possible date when the Defence Ministry study on resuming conscription could be completed but rejected media reports that restoring military service would cost 700 million Euros.
The ministry has not come up with a figure but it is far below the figure reported by the media, the defence minister said.
