Croatia asked to verify 695 missing Serbs
The 23rd anniversary of the start of Croatia's military Storm Operation, during which more than 200,000 Serbs were persecuted from their homes in that country while over 2,000 died and went missing, is marked on Saturday.
Since the beginning of the 1990s wars on the territory of former Yugoslavia, 610,000 Serbs from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina found a shelter in Serbia. Some 18,000 of them still hold the status of refugee.
According to Serbia's Commission for Missing >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << Persons, Croatia was asked to verify 695 missing persons, the exhumation of 74 and identification of some 900 already exhumed persons.
Croatia is marking August 4 as the Victory Day, while Serbs commemorate their victims on the same day. The central commemorative event in Serbia will be held Saturday evening in Backa Palanka.
