Belgrade court rules in favour of Serbian opposition MP

The Higher Court in Belgrade ruled that the Studio B TV station published untrue reports about Serbian opposition Dosta je Bilo (DJB) party leader Sasa Radulovic, the party said on Monday.

The court ruled that Studio B and its editor in chief Ivana Vucicevic were guilty of airing reports that alleged that DJB leader Sasa Radulovic was a gambler who racketeered fellow MPs and made millions in profit from bankruptcy proceedings, the party press release said.

The DJB said >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << that the court ruled that the allegations were “a form of political campaign that the ruling party is waging against its political rivals, that the station is close to the ruling party and broadcasts information that is not true or incomplete to present opponents of the ruling party as bad, especially in the plaintiffs case after his success at elections in 2016”.

The court ruling is quoted as saying that Radulovic, as a public figure, has to show a greater level of tolerance for media reports but that in this case that level was exceeded with information which was untrue and incomplete.
