Aid payment for pensioners, Serbian finance minister says
Pensioners in Serbia will get a once-off payment of 3,000 Dinars (1 Euro – 118 Dinars) early in December, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali told the Monday issue of Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti.
He said a total of 5.24 billion Dinars had been earmarked for the aid payment, adding that he thinks public sector salaries and pensions could be raised next year.
All Serbian pensioners get their retirement pay from the national Pension Fund with a minority of them getting pensions >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << from private or foreign funds. All employers in the country are obliged by law to pay retirement dues into the national fund.
Mali said the government is working with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a new indexation formula for pensions which will be implemented in the year 2020.
“Before the introduction of fiscal consolidation, pensions were adjusted in line with inflation twice a year. We are entering 2019 with a lot of optimism and doing everything we can to create conditions to raise salaries and pensions as the basis of our policy. That will be completely realistic if the economy grows at a rate of 3.5 to 4 percent next year,” the finance minister said.
