Serbia's PM after one year in office: Most done in education
Serbia’s Government marked its first year led by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic in the northern city of Subotica, with her visiting a local school, praising education progress and relations with Germany, media reported.
She also visited the German Norma Group SE, a manufacturer of machine joining components which had invested over 32 million Euros, and said that “over 400 German companies currently operate in Serbia, >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << employing more than 45,000 workers.”
“We aim to improve the overall economic and political cooperation with Germany,” she said.
President Aleksandar Vucic earlier met the outgoing German ambassador to Belgrade Axel Dittmann who he agreed with that the relations between their countries had never been better.
At a separate occasion, Serbia’s Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Thursday that the Government would bring a final decision on the promised increase of pensions and public servants’ salaries in September after a new visit by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Mali told Pink television that the government planned to introduce a new package of stimulative measures to boost the economic competitiveness.
Speaking about her cabinet’s achievements in the last year, Brnabic said she believed that “perhaps greatest” progress was made in education, adding that the state’s goal was to create “a new education” which would nourish an enterprising spirit.”
Brnabic said that the implementation of dual education was a big success because there would not be any use of knowledge unless the schools and economy were not linked.
Serbia’s Parliament elected her 21-minister-strong cabinet on June 29, 2017.
