Environment minister says air quality dramatically bad

Serbia’s Environmental Protection Minister Goran Trivan said on Saturday that Serbia achieved a progress in terms of technology but that the air quality is dramatically bad, especially in the major cities of Belgrade, Pancevo, Nis and Subotica, which has to change.

Trivan recalled that some 131,000 vehicles were imported in Serbia last year, 60 percent of which were older than 12 years.

“That’s a huge >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << problem, we will introduce a series of measures and try to have as many electric and hybrid cars as possible. We will talk in the Government about helping with subsidies,” Trivan said noting that up to 6,000 persons die per year due to the bad air quality consequences.
